Help for Homeless Veterans

Why are men who have fought bravely for our country now living on the streets? Why are those who sacrificed to serve us now lacking the basic necessities to live a healthy life? The Carl Vinson Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Macon Rescue Mission, Inc. are striving to give homeless veterans the help they deserve! The VA Medical Center is hosting a Stand Down on site at the Macon Rescue Mission (774 Hazel Street) this Friday from 9:00am until 2:00pm. The event is to assist homeless veterans and open to all homeless in our area. Health screenings, HIV Screenings, dental screenings, haircuts, showers and other services will be provided. Lunch will be served as well. We would like to thank the community for supporting our veterans and the Macon Rescue Mission. We must remember that the homeless are not problems to be eliminated but people who need our help!

I think that is just about the best news I have heard all day. Just think there are a "people" who still care about our unselfish veterans.
