Severe Storms Prompt Warnings Wednesday Afternoon

Following two days of successful forecasting by our team of meteorologists, severe weather rolled through central Georgia Wednesday afternoon and evening, prompting one tornado warning and numerous severe thunderstorm warnings.
In Macon and Bibb county, numerous reports of damage were sent in to the Macon-Bibb EMA office. The included several downed trees and power lines along with some sporadic structural damage. Numerous wrecks were reported around the area throughout the evening as the severe weather moved through.
Elsewhere, damage reports were less common, but region-wide, 60 mph winds were likely to down trees and power lines in several counties.
The severe weather also led to several school districts and colleges altering their schedules Wednesday afternoon.
Behind the system, Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox is concerned about continued gusty winds, that when combined with today's heavy rain, could lead to a continued threat of falling trees. The wind will not be thunderstorm related, but could continue to result in some damage region-wide.
Jeff also adds that the rest of the week will be much colder with highs only reaching the 50s.
