Due to the threat of severe weather, a tornado watch has been issued for all of central Georgia through 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

A line of strong and severe storms will continue to progress eastward and will enter Georgia later this evening. According to StormTrack Central's Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox, the worst of the weather is expected to enter central Georgia around midnight tonight.

The biggest threats with tonight's storms will be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rain and frequent lightning are also expected. While not a major concern, large hail cannot be ruled out with these storms.

The time line for these storms appears to have the worst of the weather enter counties northwest of Macon around midnight to 1 a.m. Expect the strongest storms to impact Macon and Warner Robins between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Areas south and east of Macon and Warner Robins are expected to feel the brunt of the storms after 2 a.m.

Fortunately, this is a quick moving system. It will be east of central Georgia by sunrise Tuesday morning, but very wind conditions will stick around for Tuesday, along with colder temperatures.
