Strong Storms Roll Through Central Georgia

NewsCentral Staff

Strong and Severe storms have left behind damage in parts of central Georgia.

A cold front was responsible for sparking an area of showers and storms this afternoon that left behind a trail of damage for some.

A severe storm left behind numerous trees down in Crisp and Wilcox counties. It appears the Rochelle area has been hardest hit. Crews from Crisp county sent additional help to their neighbors in Wilcox county.

We received reports of large hail in northwest Bibb county along the Zebulon Road area from earlier in the afternoon. Trees were downed on Nowell Road and Culver Street in Macon.

Georgia Power reported at least 5,000 central Georgian's without power at the height of the storms.

If you have reports of storm damage or large hail, you can e-mail them to Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox at 'jeffcox@newscentralga.com' or find our team of meteorologists on Facebook at 'StormTrack Weather'.

Following this front, Friday will be full of sunshine. According to Jeff, the weekend is looking fabulous as well!
