Storms Caused at least $32 Million in Damage across Georgia

NewsCentral Staff

ATLANTA (AP) - A state official said Georgia's insured losses from storms that slammed the state late Monday and early Tuesday will be an estimated $32 million - and the total could climb higher.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said that estimate does not include uninsured losses.

Hudgens' office issued a statement reminding Georgians to take steps to be prepared for storms, such as making a list of all valuables and keeping that information in a safe place outside of the home.

At least nine people across the Southeast were killed by the storms, which spawned tornadoes and knocked out power in several states.
