Severe weather sparked torrential rain, frequent lightning, large hail and damaging winds across central Georgia for the second time in three days.
Severe weather sparked torrential rain, frequent lightning, large hail and damaging winds across central Georgia for the second time in three days.
At the height of the storms, Georgia Power reported over 8-thousand outages across central Georgia, including 4,500 in Macon and Bibb county. Flint Energies reported over 22-hundred members without power, most in Houston county.
Our team of meteorologists are stressing that afternoon and evening storm chances will continue with any storm having the potential of being strong to severe.
Below is a list of storm reports received by NewsCentral:
Bibb County - Thousands of power outages. Tree down on Tucker Road.
Crawford County - One tree down on Hopewell Road in Musella.
Dodge County - A few trees and power lines down countywide.
Houston County - Dime sized hail and 11 trees blown down due to thunderstorm winds. Lightning also supsected in apartment complex fire.
Johnson County - At least ten trees down countywide
Lamar County - 1" hail along Highway 36 east north of Barnesville. Several trees and power lines down countywide.
Macon County - Several trees down along Highway 49 and Highway 224, in addition to several power lines down in those same areas.
Monroe County - Several trees down from Forsyth to the southwest part of the county.
Telfair County - A few trees down countywide.
Washington County - Golf Ball Sized Hail in western part of county
Wilkinson County - Six trees down countywide
