Severe Weather Plows through Central Georgia

A line of heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms plowed through central Georgia Wednesday afternoon. In addition to the heavy rain, some damage was left behind.

A line of heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms plowed through central Georgia Wednesday afternoon. In addition to the heavy rain, some damage was left behind.

StormTrack Central's Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox reported the following list of damage from across central Georgia:

Bleckley county - at least a dozen trees down along Highway 112 southwest of Cary

Crisp county - trees were reportedly blocking several roads, along with a downed power line, in Arabi.

Crisp county - downed trees and power lines were reported in Cordele, along with a wind damaged sign.

Dodge county - a downed line was reported along Empire-Chester Highway, along wit several downed trees.

Dodge county - 3 downed trees in the Milan area

Laurens county - downed trees reported near mile marker 42 along I-16 east bound.

Laurens county - 6-12 trees down in the west end of the county along with 4 to 5 downed power lines in Dexter.

Telfair county - 8 downed trees in McRae along Sugar Creek and Rebecca Church Roads

Treutlen county - a few trees reported down in Lothair

Treutlen county - wind damage to a house between Soperton and Mount Vernon.

Wheeler county - two trees reported down in Telfair and Wheeler counties.

Wilcox county - a few trees are reported down in Rochelle

According to Jeff, moderate rain is likely to continue for several more hours this afternoon and evening. Some minor flooding could become a concern later in the day.
