For the third day in a row, severe weather impacted parts of central Georgia.

Strong and severe thunderstorms exploded across central Georgia Friday afternoon, downing trees and power lines in several communities.

In Bibb county along Peake Road at Tucker Road, power lines were downed, igniting a small blaze in nearby woods. Macon-Bibb firefighters extinguished the blaze without incident. Numerous homes were left without power and area stop lights were in the dark.

Trees were also reported down in Twiggs county, just north of Jeffersonville and in Wilkinson county in the Irwinton and McIntyre areas.

At the height of the storms, Flint Energies reported nearly 300 power outages in the Houston county and Musella areas.

According to Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox, thunderstorms are once again in the forecast for Saturday before dry and hot weather takes over for Sunday and early next week.
