September 2010 Starting Off Well Above Average for Macon

Celeste Smith

After a summer full of above average heat, September has gotten off to a very similar start, that according to Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox.

As of Wednesday afternoon, according to Jeff, the first 15 days of September 2010 were 4.8° above average. The average high for September 1st through the 15th was 92.9°, which is well above the long term average of 88.1°. This is based on data recorded at the Macon airport, dating back to 1930.

Comparing to previous years, the first 15 days of September 2010 are the hottest for that time period since 1990 and is tied for the 4th hottest 'first 15 days of September' in Macon history.

And according to Jeff, looking ahead, above average warmth remains in our forecast for at least the next seven days.
