One Year Since Strong Tornado Tore through North Macon

Monday morning at 6:02 a.m. marked one year since an EF-1 tornado struck north Macon. Winds topped 110 miles per hour.

Monday morning at 6:02 a.m. marked one year since an EF-1 tornado struck north Macon. Winds topped 110 miles per hour.

The twister was on the ground for about three miles and had a width of about 500 yards.

It passed through Wesleyan Woods, Forest Hill, Northside Drive, Riverside Drive and lifted around the Arkwright exit on I-75.

Many homes were significantly damaged in the area. A Days Inn at Tom Hill Senior also suffered extensive damage.
