A meteorologist on ABC's local New York City station has been suspended after police say she made up claims she was assaulted in Central Park.

A meteorologist on ABC's local New York City station has been suspended after police say she made up claims she was assaulted in Central Park.

Police say Heidi Jones told them Nov. 24 that a man had tried to rape her as she ran in Central Park, and the same man later tried to assault her outside her apartment.

They say the 37-year-old later admitted she fabricated the story. She was given a ticket for misdemeanor charges of filing a false report.

Jones' attorney, Paul Callan, says she'll plead not guilty to the charges.

Jones also fills in on "Good Morning America." WABC said Wednesday that Jones has been suspended pending an internal investigation.
