NewsCentral’s team of Meteorologists continues to track very high pollen counts across the Peach State. For those of you that suffer from allergies, be prepared to suffer a bit longer!

In Macon, as of Friday, our pollen count was just above 5,300 particles per cubic meter of air. To put that into perspective, allergy issues tend to crop up with a measurement around 500.

Up the road in Atlanta, pollen counts set a record Tuesday for the second day in a row when the city’s pollen count topped a whopping 9,300.

Last year, the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic didn't measure a pollen count over 4,000 on any day.

Here are a few ways you can survive the high pollen counts:

Keep your car and house windows closed.

Consider showering before going to bed. Pollen can get in your hair and on your skin, so a shower before bed will help keep you from breathing in pollen all night.

Avoid outdoor activities until early evening. Pollen counts tend to be highest in the morning.

Wash your pet's paws and wipe down their fur after they have been outdoors.
