Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has signed an executive order requiring state agencies to waive weight and size restrictions for vehicles transporting emergency equipment to states under threat from Hurricane Irene.
ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has signed an executive order requiring state agencies to waive weight and size restrictions for vehicles transporting emergency equipment to states under threat from Hurricane Irene.
Deal's order applies to weight and size restrictions from the Department of Public Safety and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
A hurricane warning was in effect from North Carolina to Massachusetts on Friday as wind and rain began pelting the Carolina coast.
