GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) - Cleanup continues near southwestern Illinois' Granite City two days after at least one tornado hit the area, damaging more than 100 homes.
No serious injuries resulted from the Friday night storm.
Madison County's sheriff says a dozen homes sustained major damage and 90 others had minor damage. He says most of the destruction was contained in a one-square-mile area between Granite City and Pontoon Beach.
Hundreds of southern Illinois homes and businesses lost power.
In far southern Illinois, a suspected tornado Saturday was blamed for destroying a hangar and airplane at Cairo Regional Airport while destroying some trailer and modular homes nearby. In Massac County, the storm broke utility poles, downed power lines and damaged some structures.
