Brush Fire Extinguished in Hancock County

Dry conditions and windy weather are believed to have contributed to a fast moving brush fire in Hancock county Monday afternoon.

Dry conditions and windy weather are believed to have contributed to a fast moving brush fire in Hancock county Monday afternoon.

Station 2 with the Sparta Fire Department responded to the scene on Red Bud Drive.

According to the fire department, the home owner was burning leaves in a barrel on the lake when the fire got out of control. The fire was contained to half an acre.

Three boat trailers were also involved in the fire.

Winds gusted to over 20 miles per hour for much of Monday.
