Forecasters say the storm that's supposed to arrive in southern California starting tonight will bring between 2 and 8 inches of rain in most areas, and up to 10 inches in some mountains.

It's the latest in a series of powerful storm systems that have brought evacuations and left thousands without power. The storms have affected nearly the entire state.

In parts of the Santa Monica Mountains in the south, more than 12 inches of rain has fallen. There's 13 feet of snow at the Mammoth Mountain ski resort.

Downtown Los Angeles has received more than a third of its average annual precipitation since Friday morning.

Four people stranded in a forest overnight by California's relentless stormy weather have been found, and authorities elsewhere have been rescuing motorists from swamped cars.
