We've got less than 2 months left in 2009. Temperatures are falling, and while we've had a couple of "cold" spells, we've yet to have our first freeze in Macon, along with several other areas in middle Georgia.
Over the past 30 years, the average first freeze is November 7th. A quick look at our forecast through November 10th will reveal no overnight lows close to the freezing mark. As a result, it appears a later than average first freeze for Macon in 2009.
So, the question is, when will our first freeze occur? It's hard to say. Having said that, the latest first freeze over the past 30 years was December 3rd in 1985! Will Mother Nature wait until December for Macon's first freeze? Time will tell... For now, enjoy the non-freezing weather! It's chilly, but could be worse!
