A Georgia State trooper was arrested for driving under the influence Tuesday night after a one-vehicle accident involving his patrol car on I-75.
Trooper Marshall Harris was off-duty and driving his patrol car when he apparently lost control and hit a guardrail with the right rear quarterpanel on I-75 at Exit 135.
Harris then drove back to his patrol post. A trooper assigned to investigate the accident smelled alcohol on Harris and arrested him.
Harris was charged with driving under the influence, failing to maintain a lane and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was taken to the Houston County Jail and was bonded out Wednesday morning. Harris is on administrative leave pending the investigation of the incident.
