The Oct. 11-12 event features shows at the 567 Center for Renewal in downtown Macon, a special jam with musicians belonging to the GABBA at the Big House, a tour of Macon’s musical history and more.
This year’s GABBAfest celebrates the 21th anniversary of the Georgia Allman Brothers Band Association.
Friday night’s show opens with the Peacheaters, a band from Boston that promises an authentic Allman Brothers experience. Macon favorites The Lefty Collins Band from Gadsden, Alabama and the Barry Richman Band from Atlanta follow on Friday.
Saturday night features the first ever reunion of Boogie Chillun’, a local band that opened for the Allman Brothers in their first Macon performance in 1969, and also opened for The Young Rascals, Joe Cocker and Percy Sledge.
Saturday’s headliner, Les Dudek, has recorded and toured with the Allman Brothers Band, the Steve Miller Band, Cher, Dave Mason and Stevie Nicks.
On Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. the Georgia Allman Brothers Band Association will dedicate a tree at Rose Hill Cemetery. The weekend also includes tours of Macon's musical history by Rock Candy Tours, including a tour of the former Capricorn Studios.
