A national water skiing champion who called Macon's Lake Tobesofkee home will be laid to rest on Monday. 76-year old Quinton Cotton passed away on July 16th.
In the summer of 2007, Cotton won first place in slalom skiing at the National Water Skiing Championship tournament and received second place in the overall competition. Cotton began skiing when he was seventeen.
In an earlier interview, Cotton told WGXA, he skied almost daily and gave credit for his success in the sport to his wife Ruthie, who he also considered his trainer.
Cotton also helped organize an annual New Year's Day skiing event at Lake Tobesofkee for the Macon Water Ski Club. The New Year's event has been a tradition for over fifty years.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel on Cherry Street.
