A Kansas man was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on the southbound lane of I-75 SB near Rumble Road (Mile Marker 180).
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened around 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Concerned drivers stated that three motorcycles were were weaving in and out of traffic and traveling at high rates of speed.
Antonio Luis Collazo-Floyd, 20 years old, was driving a red Honda 600RR and wrecked after another vehicle changed lanes in front of him. Collazo-Floyd lost control of his motorcycle and hit the guardrail on the left side of the interstate. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Collazo-Floyd was wearing a helmet.
The two other motorcycle drivers told WGXA they were Collazo-Floyd's brothers and they were from Columbus. One of the motorcyclists wrecked his bike, sustaining minor injuries.
A second accident involving two SUV's occurred after Collazo-Floyd wrecked. Jesse Morgan Grooms of Savannah rear-ended Tong S. Slusher, also of Savannah, while trying to avoid Collazo-Floyd. Neither driver nor passengers reported any injuries.
These accidents caused three lanes of I-75 SB to be closed for around an hour while deputies cleared the scene.
