SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal aviation officials are putting more restrictions on foreign jets at San Francisco's airport, following the July 6 crash-landing of an Asiana Airlines flight. Aviation officials are no longer allowing foreign airlines to land alongside another plane when touching down at San Francisco International. Officials say the change is to minimize distractions during a critical phase of a flight.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego's mayor will have to pay his own bills as he fights a sexual harassment suit. The San Diego City Council also voted unanimously Tuesday night to make Mayor Bob Filner responsible for any expenses incurred by the city, which also has been named in the suit. Filner's former communications director Irene McCormack Jackson is one of eight women who've recently come forward with allegations of unwanted sexual advances.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Commerce Department is expected to report Wednesday that the U.S. economy barely grew from April through June. Higher increases and steep government spending cuts probably did their worst damage to the economy in the second quarter. But economists are hopeful that the weak quarter is a temporary lull that gives way to stronger growth in the second half of the year.

MIAMI (AP) — Forecasters say Tropical Storm Gil is getting better organized in the Pacific, but it's still far off the southern tip of California. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Gil's maximum sustained winds were last tracked at 45 mph and of the storm is 845 miles south-southwest of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, south of California. It could become a hurricane by Thursday.
