ATLANTA (AP) — U.S. Attorney's officials say a Stone Mountain man accused in a series of 8 armed robberies has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Prosecutors said Tuesday that 24-year-old LaQuan Smith was on parole for armed robbery when he committed a series of armed robberies during a three-week period in December 2011. Authorities said Smith was also out on bond for burglary at the time of the robberies.
Prosecutors say Smith and an accomplice robbed various businesses for a total of $7,410. Smith was arrested after a witness wrote down the license plate number of the getaway car and called police. Smith's accomplice has already been sentenced to 11 years and 2 months in prison.
Smith is ordered to serve five years of supervised release and pay a $900 fine.
