CASCADE, Idaho (AP) — The manhunt for a man suspected of killing a California woman and her young son and abducting the woman's teenage daughter is over. Forty-year-old James Lee DiMaggio was shot and killed by FBI agents Saturday after his campsite was spotted in Idaho's rugged wilderness. The teen with him, 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, was found apparently uninjured.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The deadly plane accident in Connecticut on Friday wasn't the first crash pilot Bill Henningsgaard had been involved in. The former Microsoft executive ditched a small plane in a Washington state river in 2009 after his engine quit. On Friday, he was taking his teenage son on a tour of East Coast colleges when his plane crashed into two houses near an airport in East Haven in rainy weather. Both Henningsgaard and his son were killed along with two children in one of the houses.
NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (AP) — Police say a horrific car crash in northern New Jersey early Saturday killed three men and injured two others. The wreck happened just before the approach to Route 495 in North Bergen, which leads to the Lincoln Tunnel. Authorities say the car hit a concrete pillar and rolled over several times. The men ranged in age from 19 to 31.
BEIJING (AP) — Chinese state media say three Chinese citizens have been killed following an attack in an apartment building in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The official Xinhua (shihn-wah) News Agency reports that two women and one man were killed in the building on Thursday and two other Chinese men who went missing. Xinhua says one of the missing men has been found alive.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Eydie Gorme (gor-MAY'), a popular nightclub and television singer as a solo act and as a team with husband Steve Lawrence, has died. She was 84. Her publicist says she died at a Las Vegas hospital Saturday following an undisclosed illness. Gorme had a huge solo hit in 1963 with "Blame it on the Bossa Nova."
