The Macon Police Department is investigating the discovery of skeletal remains found on Old Holton Road late Monday morning.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones tells WGXA the remains were found at 2170 Holton Road just before noon.
Late Monday afternoon, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the remains. They belong to Norman Carl Tucker.
Jones says that the scene stretched for quite some distance.
"It’s a slope down there and it appears that the skull had rolled down a little embankment. The skull is about twenty or thirty feet away from the bones,” said Jones. “It’s a good little ways back in the woods. It's a long ways back."
Jones says that tucker's parole officer says that he hasn't heard from his client since early this year. He speculates the body could have been in the woods for up to eight months.
Tucker had not been reported missing.
MPD Public Information Officer Jami Gaudet tells WGXA, contractors working in the area found a skull. Gaudet says the remainder of the body was located in a heavily wooded area near the skull.
Gaudet added investigators are working to identify the male and determine the cause of death.
If you have any information about the incident you can contact Macon Police at 750-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
