Candidates now have less time to qualify as the Macon Bibb Board of Elections moved up qualifying dates from August to July 22 through July 24 at the Board of Elections Headquarters.
The board also authorized County Attorney Virgil Adams to seek a consent order from that would establish September 17 as the election day, meaning October 15 or December 3 would be used for runoff elections.
District 4 commission candidate Mallory Jones says there is still a state of confusion surrounding the changes and will keep his lawsuit against the board on the table until a judge validates the requests.
The consolidated government is set to begin January 1.
