Students were back in select Houston County Schools Monday, as the school district begins meet and greet events. The events give students the opportunity to meet with teachers and become familiar with the classroom and school before the first official day of school.
Northside Elementary School Principal Jodi Clark says the meet and greet is especially beneficial for students new tot he school.
"They'll feel more comfortable, they will have seen their room, they already have their place and their desk in their room, so it really helps to relieve those first day or two jitters for someone kind of new to a school," Clark said.
The events last for around two hours.
Houston schools will continue the meet greets leading up to the first day of school on Thursday, August, 1. To check the schedule for your school's meet and greet visit the school systems website at http://www.hcbe.net/
