CHICAGO (AP) — Left fielder Casper Wells robbed Reed Johnson of a home run in the eighth inning to help the Chicago White Sox beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 Sunday. With the White Sox leading 3-1, Wells leaped up against the left-field wall to make a spectacular catch and rob Johnson of the game-tying homer.
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say former Auburn basketball player Korvotney Barber has died from an apparent drowning. Panama City Beach Cpl. Jason Gleason said a passerby found the 26-year-old's body Sunday at 3:49 p.m. between two condominium complexes. He said police believe Barber drowned. His body has been released to the medical examiner.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Glory Johnson had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Liz Cambage added 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Tulsa Shock to a 90-63 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. The victory extended Tulsa's winning streak to a season-high three games, the team's longest winning streak since the final weeks of the 2012 season.
UNDATED (AP) — Phil Woosnam, the former Welsh soccer star who served as the North American Soccer League's commissioner and had a brief stint as coach of the U.S. national team, has died. He was 80. U.S. Soccer said Sunday that Woosnam died Friday in Dunwoody, Ga., of complications related to prostate cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
