ATLANTA (AP) — Attorneys for Andrea Sneiderman have filed a motion for a new trial. Sneiderman was sentenced to five years in prison for lying to investigators about an affair with her former boss, Hemy Neuman, who was convicted of killing Sneiderman's husband. Neuman was deemed mentally ill. Neuman's lawyers also plan to seek a new trial.
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — A Brunswick police detective spent about three hours testifying in the trial of a man accused of killing a baby as he sat in his stroller. Detective Angela Smith was cross examined yesterday by public defender Kevin Gough in the trial of 18-year-old De'Marquise (deh-mahr-KEES') Elkins. He is charged in the death of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Federal investigators offer little new information in a preliminary report on the Aug. 14 crash of a UPS plane near Birmingham. The report says the plane crashed short of runway 18 while on approach to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Police in coastal Georgia say a sex offender who prompted lockdowns at three schools near Savannah has been arrested. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokesman Julian Miller said Wednesday that 40-year-old James Dover was taken into custody behind a house.
