(AP) — A 20-year-old man is charged in a Georgia elementary school shooting that left no casualties but led to parents being terrified that it would be a repeat of the school massacre in Connecticut. DeKalb County police say the suspect, Michael Brandon Hill, held one or two staff members in the front office of Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy captive for a time yesterday.
LILBURN, Ga. (AP) — Police say a 3-year-old boy was shot to death on the driveway of his home in Lilburn. A Gwinnett County police spokesman says the boy was hit by gunfire apparently intended for someone else just before 10 o'clock last night.
MCDONOUGH, Ga. (AP) — Henry County sheriff's officials are searching for two men accused of stealing $5,000 worth of batteries from parked school buses. Authorities say 21 school bus batteries have been stolen from buses parked at several schools in the district beginning Aug. 4.
DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Defense attorneys for Andrea Sneiderman say they will appeal her five-year sentence for lying to police investigating the shooting death of her husband outside a preschool. The judge said yesterday she will get credit for time she's served in custody and under house arrest, meaning she will spend the next four years in prison.
