MCDONOUGH, Ga. (AP) — Officials say a teenage boy drowned yesterday in a McDonough-area lake. Henry County Fire Capt. Sabrina Puckett says divers were called to Lake Dow after a caller reported that a boy jumped from a dock and didn't resurface. Officials say the teen's body was found about 30 feet from the dock in about 15 feet of water.
ATLANTA (AP) — FBI officials say 19 people in Georgia have been arrested on child exploitation and prostitution charges. Agency spokesman Stephen Emmett says the Metro Atlanta Child Exploitation Task Force worked last week to identify, find and recover child exploitation victims and arrest those who were responsible for the crimes.
UNION CITY, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a customer at a Waffle House in Union City shot and wounded a suspect who was attempting to rob the restaurant. Police said the shooting happened early this morning when a gunman tried to hold up the restaurant.
ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens is suing two companies that allegedly provide illegal payday loans in the state. Olens accuses South Dakota-based Western Sky Financial, the company's owner Martin Webb and California-based Cash Call Inc. of violating a state law prohibiting lenders from offering payday loans over the Internet.
