Waylon Earl Goodson was indicted Wednesday by a Jones County Grand Jury on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Brittany Grizzle.
Grizzle was killed May 6th when Goodson, her longtime boyfriend, shot her dead.
Goodson told police he had smoked marijuana and was handling his 357 magnum when the gun went off, striking Grizzle in the head.
The indictment came a day after Grizzle's parents Scott and Joan Anderson, spoke publicly for the first time about the shooting. They read a statement saying they think there's more to the story.
"We have good reason to believe that there's much more to that fatal night than what has been disclosed," Scott Anderson said.
After the indictment was announced, Anderson, an attorney, told WGXA he has no problem with what the Grand Jury decided.
The indictment by the Jones County grand jury indicates Goodson acted without intent but in reckless fashion. If convicted, Goodson faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
