ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say two metro Atlanta sheriff's officials have been hospitalized with minor injuries after a crash in Atlanta.
A Georgia State Patrol spokesman says Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren and his chief deputy were taken to Grady Hospital after an accident in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 Thursday afternoon.
Officials say the driver of a truck pulling a trailer lost control, veered across the southbound lanes and hit the sheriff and chief deputy. It was unclear if the driver of the truck was injured.
Georgia Department of Transportation cameras along the interstate showed congestion in the southbound lanes while authorities worked to clear wreckage from the scene.
Helicopters from local news outlets showed emergency responders attending to a damaged white SUV that was blocking two lanes of the freeway.
