CENTERVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Police in Middle Georgia say an inmate died while on work detail.
Centerville Police Chief Sid Andrews told the Telegraph of Macon (http://bit.ly/16PXBeZ) that 33-year-old Tony Gregory Dekle died during a work detail assignment Monday.
Georgia Department of Corrections work detail supervisor Oliver Bridges says Dekle got sick while he was on duty and authorities say an autopsy will be performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Macon.
Andrews says inmates typically cut grass in Centerville as part of a state work detail program between Monday and Thursday.
Dekle was an inmate at the McEver Probation Detention Center.
Centerville is about 16 miles south of Macon.
