A middle Georgia stable business is being investigated by the Department of Agriculture.
The department's Equine Health Manager Mat Thompson confirms to WGXA that his staff was at Hearts and Hooves Stables Monday. Thompson says violations were found, but wouldn't elaborate further.
The Department of Agriculture has notified the Monroe County Sheriff's Department but no criminal charges have been filed.
A veterinarian was sent to the business Tuesday and investigators will return later this week for a follow-up visit and help the business get to par with department standards.
Hearts and Hooves is a horse stable business with two locations, one on Bagley Road in Forsyth and Thomaston Road in Macon.
WGXA contacted Hearts and Hooves about the violations, but they refused to comment.
