In anticipation of the consolidation of the Macon Police Department into the Bibb County Sheriff's Department, members of both organizations bonded on the golf course last week.
About 40 officers, deputies and friends spent Friday afternoon at Healy Point Country Club, playing golf together in advance of serving and protecting together.
Macon Police Department’s Traffic Lt. Wilton Collins and Bibb Sheriff's Office Forensics Capt. Dennis Hagerman organized the tournament. Hagerma and Investigator Jamey Jones took top honors in the event that was preceded by lunch.
“This is a great opportunity for us to spend time together and to get-to-know each other in a social setting before we begin working together,” said MPD Chief Mike Carswell.
“This is a great event for both of our agencies and I look forward to expanding the tournament in the future,” said Sheriff David Davis.
