INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A Baptist church in Indianapolis is mourning the deaths of three people who were on a church-owned bus that crashed today on a busy city street. A driver and 37 passengers were on the bus. Many of the passengers were teenagers returning from a youth camp in Michigan. Investigators haven't determined whether the bus had mechanical issues when it struck a retaining wall at a high rate of speed and overturned.
PIERMONT, N.Y. (AP) — The driver of a speedboat that slammed into a barge on New York's Hudson River has been charged with vehicular manslaughter. The collision Friday night hurled a bride-to-be and her fiance's best man into the water. A body thought to be the woman's was recovered today. The search for the man was suspended due to darkness. Officials say the groom-to-be and three others were hospitalized.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — People in western North Carolina are trying to recover from major flash flooding that was triggered by a series of thunderstorms that moved across the region today. The heavy rain inundated roads, apartments and parts of several counties. No injuries have been reported. It's at least the fourth major flash flooding event in the Charlotte region in the past month.
BOSTON (AP) — The wife of Secretary of State John Kerry will complete her recovery from a seizure at home after some out-patient treatment. Teresa Heinz Kerry walked out of a Boston rehabilitation hospital today after successful treatment for the seizure she experienced earlier this month at the couple's home in Nantucket.
PANTEGO, Texas (AP) — A North Texas couple has survived an attack by a swarm of about 30,000 bees, but their two miniature horses were killed. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the woman was stung about 200 times, and her boyfriend about 50 times. The bees also killed five hens, and stung the couple's dog.
