DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — The U.N. says it's reached an agreement with the Syrian government to allow international experts to visit the site of an alleged chemical weapons attack on the outskirts of Damascus last week. A Russian foreign ministry spokesman says all countries should wait for the results of the investigation and "avoid tragic mistakes" by rushing to a conclusion about the incident.
DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Some members of Congress are urging swift military action against the Syrian regime if the use of chemical agents in an attack last week is confirmed. Republican Sen. Bob Corker tells Fox News the U.S. should respond in a "surgical and proportional way." Democratic Congressman Eliot Engel tells Fox the U.S. must respond "quickly," together with NATO allies, possibly using cruise missile strikes.
GROVELAND, Calif. (AP) — A massive wildfire on the northern border of Yosemite National Park is edging closer to a reservoir that supplies drinking water for San Francisco, some 150 miles away. Despite ash falling like snowflakes on the reservoir and a thick haze of smoke, utility officials say water quality remains good. The city's hydroelectric power generated by the system has been interrupted by the fire and that's forced the utility to buy power on the open market.
CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — Prices are continuing to fall at the gas pump and that's good news as the Labor Day weekend approaches. The average price of a gallon of gas dropped 4 cents over the past two weeks and 20 cents since this time last year. The Lundberg Survey puts the price of a gallon of regular at $3.56. Analyst Trilby Lundberg says lower prices are largely due to good domestic supplies.

The panda was given a quick physical exam Sunday morning and veterinarians say the cub is healthy, vibrant and weighs 4.8 ounces. The zoo says its heartbeat is steady and its lungs appear to be functioning properly.
