HIALEAH, Fla. (AP) — Police in Florida say seven people are dead after a shootout including a gunman who was killed by police after he barricaded himself with hostages inside an apartment building in Hialeah, just a few miles north of Miami. Police say the bodies of three women and two men were found throughout the apartment complex. Another man was killed across the street. Two hostages were unharmed.
SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Spain (AP) — Spanish judicial authorities say they'll wait until the driver in the deadly Spanish train derailment can come to court rather than having a judge come to the hospitalized man today. The train derailed at high speed, killing 78 people and injuring dozens more.

CAIRO (AP) — Clashes between security forces and supporters of ouster Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi in east Cairo have killed at least 38 people. A doctor at the demonstrators' field hospital says it's likely even more people died. The clashes followed a day of massive pro-military rallies backing a tough hand against Morsi's Islamist backers.
PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — Officials now say at least 57 people died in a pair of overnight bombings at a busy market in a Shiite-dominated region of northwest Pakistan. As many as 167 people were also wounded in yesterday's apparent sectarian attacks near the Afghanistan border.
