Mercer Football Adds Seats, Unveils Uniforms

Rick Devens

Mercer faithful piled onto the Bear's new football field this Thursday afternoon to meet the team, tour the facility, and of course check out the new uniforms.

Mercer will play it's first football game a year from last Saturday. Season tickets have been in such high demand that University President Bill Underwood announced that the stadium plans have been expanded to seat 10,000 rather than 6,000.

Thursday Coach Bobby Lamb and his players signed autographs and took pictures with eager fans.

"It's very exciting. We've been waiting since February when we committed here because we knew it was going to be a brand new program. We're ready to just get out here. We're getting a lot of love actually. Everyone's really excited. Everyone's happy that we have football back at Mercer. Macon's a football town, by the way, so everyone's excited," says Tosin Aguebor, a Freshman linebacker at Mercer.

The Tony and Nancy Moye Family Football and Lacrosse Complex is still under final construction. It will be officially dedicated this fall during homecoming.
