Woman hospitalized after being hit by train

AUBURN, Ga. (AP) - Police in Barrow County say a woman has been hospitalized after being hit by a train.

Auburn Police told WXIA-TV the unidentified woman was struck by a train near Georgia State Route 8 near Highway 324 Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say the woman was airlifted to Grady Memorial hospital and information on her condition was not immediately available.

Police are unsure of why the woman was near the tracks and say the incident is under investigation.

Auburn is about 40 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
