LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a high school student who was struck and killed by a car in Atlanta's suburbs.

Authorities say Berkmar High School junior Dakota Waters was attempting to walk across Lawrenceville Highway in Gwinnett County around 7:25 a.m. Wednesday.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that the 17-year-old was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition, but later died as a result of his injuries.
