JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Police in Clayton County are continuing their search for a 36-year-old man after an officer was hit by a truck and hospitalized in serious condition.
Police tell WSB-TV that they've identified the man they believe hit the officer while he chased a burglary suspect Wednesday.
Police were responding to a report of two men stealing metal from behind a department store in Jonesboro. Authorities say one of the men got in a black truck and hit the officer before fleeing the scene on foot. The first suspect was taken into custody.
The officer is hospitalized at the Atlanta Medical Center. His identity has not been released.
