Police: Atlanta news anchor arrested in DUI crash

NewsCentral Staff

ATLANTA (AP) - A news anchor for Fox 5 Atlanta has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after authorities say she caused a wrong-way crash on a city street.

Amanda Davis, who co-anchors the evening news, was arrested early Sunday. She has since been released from jail and did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. It was not known whether she had an attorney.

Police say Davis was driving her car around 12:20 a.m. Sunday when she failed to maintain her lane and crashed into another car. The driver of that car was treated and released from the hospital.

In a police report, the officer said Davis smelled of alcohol and refused to take a sobriety test. Authorities say possible charges include DUI, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving.
