Johns Creek police say man's death was homicide

NewsCentral Staff

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (AP) - Police in the Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek are investigating the death of an 87-year-old man as a homicide.

Authorities said Carl Olin's daughter found him dead inside his home in a subdivision off Jones Bridge Road on Jan. 12.

Johns Creek police Lt. Chris Byers the death initially appeared to be accidental. However, after an autopsy and further investigation, authorities deemed the case a homicide.

WSB-TV reports that an autopsy found that Olin suffered blunt-force trauma to his head.

The report also stated that Olin's wallet had been taken, but there was no forced entry into the home.

Byers said the wallet was located "some distance" from the home - a key piece of evidence that led investigators to zero in on homicide as the cause of his death.
