NewsCentral Staff

ATLANTA (AP) - The marching band at Georgia State University has landed its biggest gig - to perform at the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/W59J6N ) the Atlanta-based marching band is among 55 from across the U.S. that will march and play Monday in the inaugural parade that goes from the Capitol to the White House.

The band plans to give a nod to its home state by performing "Living In America" by Georgia native James Brown.

The Georgia State band was selected from 2,800 applicants from across the U.S.

Georgia State tuba player Eric Vogel says getting the inaugural gig shows the musicians' hard work has paid off just three years after the school's marching band program started.
