COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A Columbus police officer has been placed on administrative leave after authorities say he shot another officer during training.

The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus reports the officer was placed on administrative leave Monday for the Feb. 7 shooting at a local gun range.

Police say 25-year-old officer Andrew Redmond was shot in his head. He was treated and released from a local medical center.

Authorities say standard procedure calls for an officer to be placed on administrative leave after discharging a weapon. It is unclear how long the officer will be on administrative leave.

Police have not released additional details about the shooting and say the investigation is ongoing.
