ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police say a man has been arrested in connection with a fatal accident on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near Bakers Ferry Road.
Police spokeswoman Kim Jones says 40-year-old Eric Demons has been arrested and will be charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 53-year-old Cassandra Head. Jones says Head was in a crosswalk when an SUV hit her and fled the scene. Jones says Head was knocked to the sidewalk and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say Demons will also be charged with hit and run, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and driving on a suspended license.
Jones says Demons was taken to the Fulton County Jail and is awaiting his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
