Ga. couple arrested on child cruelty charges

NewsCentral Staff

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) - A metro Atlanta couple has been arrested on child cruelty charges after police say they duct taped their children and locked them in their bedrooms.

Police accuse Sean Patrick Sterling and Shawnna Leigh Huntley, both 35, of duct taping their 14 and 18-year-old sons to chairs and locking them in their bedrooms between late December and March 7 in Powder Springs. They were arrested March 8 and Huntley is also charged with false imprisonment.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports Sterling was released from the Cobb County Jail on $75,000 bond Saturday and Huntley is being held on $25,000 bond.

Huntley's attorney Kevin Rodgers says he plans to defend his client vigorously and would not comment further on the case. It was unclear Thursday if Sterling had a lawyer.
