FOLKSTON, Ga. (AP) - A special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a south Georgia high school teacher is free on bond after being arrested for allegedly having sex with at least seven students.
Authorities say DaNita Wilson was arrested on seven counts of sexual abuse. Charlton County Court officials say bond was set at $35,000.
The Florida Times Union reports six of the students involved were at least 16 years old and one was under the age of 16. Although 16 is the age of consent in Georgia, it is illegal for teachers to have sex with their students.
A Charlton County Magistrate Court clerk said a court date has not been set. It's unclear if Wilson has an attorney.
Folkston is about 45 miles northwest of Jacksonville, Fla.
